Home Improvements on a budget

By Ryan Hirst | February 12, 2013 | Featured Stories, In The Home

In the modern era it is vital we spend our money wisely, and it is no different when it comes to home improvement. With the state of the economy all over the world it is crucial we do all we can to save money, today I intend on giving you some great home improvement tips on a budget.

?

Revamping window sills and skirting boards

?

Although this improvement may take a little bit of time it is highly worthwhile, after all as the old saying goes time is money! Your window sills and skirting boards may not seem a huge part of your home to you but it is remarkable the difference a lick of paint to them can do, this is a much cheaper option than having to repaint whole rooms, and can have a great effect without really affecting your bank balance.

Doing this will give your home a fresh feel and will also allow a cleaner look to the place, this is a great tip if you are looking to sell your home also as any buyers will notice the difference as your home appears well looked after.

?

Photographs and photo frames

?

If you want to add a new theme to your home but you cannot afford to go and spend hundreds or thousands of pounds on an interior designer then think outside the box. By purchasing specific photographs or pictures that add to your room you can create a theme to your home on a cheap budget. Have you always loved the theme of New York? Maybe buying some great New York site photographs will add to the vibe of your home you have always wanted!

?

Lighting can make a huge difference to a home or room

?

If a room in your home feels dull or in need of a revamp or maybe your whole home does in general but you haven?t got the money to go splashing the cash on renovation then the installation of new lighting can make a huge difference, you don?t even need to go buying expensive lights. In fact by simply purchasing a few more creative lights you can revitalize your home without a great deal of effort or money.?

?

One tip that can make a huge difference is having any mirrors opposite windows that are subject to direct sunlight. I say this because the reflection of the light makes the room seem and feel a whole lot bigger then it was before, with this in mind you may want to think about purchasing a new big mirror in your bedroom for example instead of a new lighting technique being applied.

?

New rugs instead of replacing old flooring

?

This is something that I would strongly recommend if you are improving your children?s bedrooms but you are worried about the cost if a carpet or other flooring is damaged but can be used anywhere in your home.

?

If you do not have the budget to add new flooring then adding a new rug of your choice can have the same effect. You can change the theme in the room by using this technique and in your child?s bedroom this is an affordable option too. If you are scared that within a couple of years the flooring may need replacing again adding a rug will be a cheaper option.

All of these improvements are cheap and affordable but also simple enough DIY jobs for your home and I would advise anyone to give them a go!
