The University of Texas at Austin has ordered an immediate evacuation of all of its buildings after a threat was reportedly phoned in.
"Evacuation due to threats on campus. Immediately evacuate ALL buildings and get as far away as possible. More information to come," a message from 10:11 a.m. local time on the university's?website's emergency page read.
The evacuation was prompted by a call at around 8:35 a.m. from a male?with a Middle Eastern accent claiming to have placed bombs all over campus,??Director of Communications Rhonda Weldon told NBC affiliate KXAN.com. He claimed to be with al-Qaida and said bombs would go off in 90 minutes. Buildings were being evacuated out of an abundance of caution, the station reported.
